God’s Hidden Wisdom

Most Christian’s believe God is wise, but how far does His wisdom go? It goes to the point of Him having hidden wisdom, something that was hid in Him until He was ready to reveal it.

Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought:
But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the
hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:

1 Corinthians 2: 6-7

There are numerous Scriptures in the Old Testament speaking of a Savior and Messiah, as early as the fall of Adam.

And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

Genesis 3:15

This is also God’s first promise. Now we know He was speaking about the cross but no one knew it then.

This hidden wisdom has to do with what was accomplished by the cross.

We know that at the cross Jesus shed His blood and died but what happened by the cross on our behalf was hidden.

Had God’s purpose for the cross been revealed in the Old Testament Scriptures, Satan could have used it to thwart God’s hidden wisdom.

Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.

1 Corinthians 2: 6-8 (KJV)

This hidden wisdom at the correct time was revealed to the Apostle Paul.

How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words,

Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ)

 Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit;

Ephesians 3:3-5

No one gloried in the cross before as Paul had.

But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.

Galatians 6:14

God’s hidden wisdom was in His mind before the world began to resolve man’s sin problem.

To have true wisdom is to understand the hidden wisdom of God.

Is Peter Your Apostle?

An Apostle is someone who is sent off to convey a message. In Peter’s case what was that message?

The most prominent religion to follow Peter as their Apostle is Catholicism. But if we search the Scriptures to see what Peter’s message was we might find that there are quite a few Protestant religions that follow him also.

Peter was definitely anointed of God even before Pentecost. His response to Christ in who He was proves that.

And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.

Matthew 16:16-17

One of the most important things you can understand when reading Scripture is who the writer is speaking to and what he is saying to those people. Acts chapters 2 and 3 can give us an insight into this.

Luke who is the writer of Acts records Peter speaking to the Jews of Israel after Pentecost.

Ye Men of Judaea and all ye that dwell in Jerusalem. Acts 2:14

Ye men of Israel. Acts 2:22

Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly. Acts 2:36

Ye men of Israel. Acts 3:12

The God of our fathers. Acts 3:13

Ye are the children of the prophets. Acts 3:25

In his two sermons, Peter is speaking to those of Israel only. There are no Gentiles in the audience no matter who speculates that there are. After the Holy Spirit falls on them at Pentecost Peter receives this new boldness in which before was missing.

The next thing we need to look for is what he is saying or preaching?

He’s condemning them for crucifying Christ.

Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.

Acts 2:36

After the Jews heard this and were pricked in their heart, they asked Peter and the Apostles, what shall we do?

Peter responded.

Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Acts 2:38

This group of believers followed the apostles’ doctrine in Acts 2:42, 44-46 and part of that were to sell their possessions and have everything in common.

And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.

Acts 2:42

 And all that believed were together, and had all things common;
And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need.
And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,

Acts 2: 44-46

If you follow these instructions you would condemn the crucifixion and not glory in it as Paul states.

Water baptism and believing in the name of Jesus would be the method for the forgiveness of sins, not faith in the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ.

Finally, you would sell all your possessions and have everything in a common as they did.

There are different instructions in the Bible. Which instructions are for you?

There was a further revelation that was given to the Apostle Paul in his Epistles; where you can find our instructions and the correct Apostle to follow.
